Visual acuity screening with a standard eye chart is a routine part of many physical exams. It is quick, requires no preparation, and is often what a form, a licence renewal, or a school or workplace requirement asks for.

When It Comes Up

Annual and school physicals — a basic screen for vision that has changed.
DMV and employment forms — documentation that requires a recorded acuity measurement.
New visual symptoms — a starting point when a patient reports blurring or strain.

Screening, Not an Eye Exam
