Urinalysis Testing

Urinalysis is one of the fastest and most informative tests available in a primary care office. A single sample can point toward a urinary tract infection, changes in kidney function, dehydration, or blood sugar that has drifted out of range.

What It Can Show

Infection — white cells, nitrites, and bacteria that suggest a urinary tract infection.
Kidney health — protein or blood in the urine that warrants a closer look.
Metabolic changes — glucose or ketones that may relate to diabetes management.

Part of the Wider Picture

Urinalysis is frequently paired with diagnostic blood panel testing so kidney and metabolic findings can be interpreted together. Results are reviewed with the patient during the visit or shortly afterward, along with what, if anything, should happen next.
