Trigger points are tight, tender bands within a muscle that can refer pain elsewhere and keep a cycle of spasm going. Injecting them can break that cycle.

What to Expect

Your physician locates the trigger points by examination, explains the procedure, and injects them in the office. Post-injection soreness is common for a day or two, and stretching or therapy afterward is what makes the relief last.
