Heavy Metal Testing
Testing for lead, mercury, and other heavy metals is appropriate when there is a genuine exposure history or a clinical picture that fits — occupational exposure, older housing, certain imported products, or high fish intake.
What to Expect
Your physician takes an exposure history and orders validated testing when it is warranted, interpreting results against established reference ranges. Where levels are elevated, the priority is removing the exposure, with specialist referral for treatment when it is indicated.
